STAGING REQUIREMENTS
Dangerous Delights performers are based in Perth, Western Australia. We perform locally and are also available to travel interstate and overseas.
Below are some considerations and requirements necessary for the safety of your audience and the quality of our performance.
Staging Requirements
Indoor
The performance space needs to be well ventilated, with fire/smoke alarms and sprinklers switched off for the duration of the performance. Air-conditioning ducts or fans blowing air onto the performance space need to be redirected or turned off during the performance.
Outdoor
Our performances are not suited to very windy or wet conditions and require darkness for the fire to have full effect. We reserve the right to cancel outdoor shows (or move them inside) if outdoor conditions compromise safety and make performing dangerous.
Stage Area and Overhead Clearance
A minimum space of 4m wide x 3m deep is required for a solo Fire Show. The more performers there are in a show, the more space there is required. All Fire Shows require a minimum of 2m overhead clearance (free of lights or decorations). For other styles of performance the space requirement is more flexible. This will be discussed with you at the time of making your booking.
Backstage Area
A secure backstage area in which to prepare and store equipment before and after our performances must be provided for most events. An area of at least 3m x 3m is required.
Performance
Preparation Time
We arrive at events 30-45 minutes before we start our performances. All of our preparation is done "off stage". For Fire Shows, approximately 2 minutes is required to set up our props on stage, before the start of the show.
Performance Time
Performances can range from 5 minutes to several hours, depending on your choice of performance style.
Pack-down Time
A minimum of 15 minutes is required to pack-up our props and costumes after performances. For Fire Shows, only about 2 minutes of this is on stage. For other styles of performance, all of the pack-down time is off stage.
Costuming
We have many styles of costume currently available and will pick what we feel is the most appropriate for your event, unless you request something specific. If your event has a theme, please tell us, so that we can costume accordingly.
Lighting
Fire is most effective in the dark or with minimal ambient light. Outdoor fire performances must take place after sunset. Light conditions severely diminish the desired effect of the performance and generally, the darker the environment, the more effective the show. Where stage lighting is provided, a blue wash, with minimal light, is preferred.
Music
Fire Shows are performed to our own music. All other performances can be done to the music playing at the venue or no music, if none is available. We supply our music on USB stick and mp3 player.
